The sustainable development goals, which are at the heart of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, are closely interrelated. Advancing one goal will trigger progress on the others. This integrated nature has shed new light on the need for integrated policy making. Integrated policies and Whole-of-Government (WoG) approaches allow governments to pursue sustainable development more effectively, by taking into account the interrelations between economic, social and environmental dimensions as well as between the sectors and subsectors addressed by the goals and targets.
