In 1980, the Costa Rican economy suffered from very adverse conditions which resulted for the second consecutive year in insufficient expansion of production. There were three main features of this situation: a generalization of slow growth m almost all sectors of activity; a drop in agricultural production; and a sharp deterioration in the dometic and foreign financial situation.
