International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) reported total traffic for the world’s scheduled airlines as 113,000 million tonne-kilometres during 1978, an increase of 12.3 per cent over 1977. The airlines carried about 678 million passengers at a load factor of 64 per cent. Air freight increased by 11.7 per cent to 26,400 million tonne-kilometres and air mail traffic amounted to 3,300 million tonne-kilometres, an increase of 4.4 per cent over the previous year.
