The type of packaging still almost universally used for the export of spices is the textile sack or bale. The materials traditionally used for these packages are cotton, sisal and jute or kenaf. Unfortunately, such export packages, of fundamental importance in the distribution economies of developing countries, are ill suited to the packaging and transport requirements of modern industrial societies.
