ARIA IV analyses the status of intra-African trade, its progress and the challenges that still must be addressed in legal, policy, institutional and infrastructural capacities at the national, regional and continental levels. The role of other essential requirements in ensuring successful trade reforms has been articulated. These requirements include information and communications technology (ICT), the informal economy, external trade agreements (specifically the EPAs) and the role that gender plays in trade, especially in driving the informal economy.
