The present issue covers the sixty-sixth year (2011) of the Security Council and its sub-bodies which met during the year. It consists of the sessional information which provides information on rules of procedure, a check-list of meetings, the agenda, the subject index, an index to speeches, a list of documents arranged by symbol, the resolutions adopted by the Security Council, as well as a voting chart.

Introduction

The Security Council is the organ of the United Nations which has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security under the Charter of the United Nations. The Council, which is composed of 15 members, is organized so as to be able to function continuously.
