The Yearbook of the United Nations stands as the authoritative reference work on the activities and concerns of the Organization. Based on official UN documents, the Yearbook provides comprehensive coverage of political and security matters, human rights issues, economic and social questions, legal issues, and institutional, administrative and budgetary matters.

Economic and social questions

Recent trends in the world economic situation were reviewed by the Economic and Social Council at its mid-1968 session. Discussion was based on the World Economic Survey, 1967, the regional surveys for Europe, for Asia and the Far East, for Latin America and for Africa, and also on a special study of selected development problems in the Middle East.
