Legal questions

By an Application of 19 June 1962, the Belgian Government sought reparation for the damage claimed to have been caused to Belgian nationals, shareholders in the Canadian company, Barcelona Traction, Light and Power Company, Limited, by the conduct of various organs of the Spanish State. In a Judgment of 24 July 1964, the International Court of Justice rejected two of the four preliminary objections raised by Spain and joined the other two to the merits, proceedings on which were then resumed.
