The Yearbook of the United Nations stands as the authoritative reference work on the activities and concerns of the Organization. Based on official UN documents, the Yearbook provides comprehensive coverage of political and security matters, human rights issues, economic and social questions, legal issues, and institutional, administrative and budgetary matters.

Political and security questions

During 1973, discussions and debates on disarmament and related matters continued to be held under the auspices of the Conference of the Committee on Disarmament (CCD) and in the General Assembly. The questions of a comprehensive ban on nuclear weapon testing and the prohibition of the development, production and stockpiling of chemical weapons received particular attention.
