World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

In 1983, the Ninth World Meteorological Congress, which convenes at least once every four years as the highest body of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), met at Geneva from 2 to 27 May and established the organization’s programme and budget for the ninth financial period (1984-1987), approving a maximum expenditure of $77.5 million. It appointed G. O. P. Obasi (Nigeria) as Secretary-General of WMO for a fouryear period beginning on 1 January 1984.
