The International Finance Corporation (IFC), established in 1956 as an affiliate of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank), is a multilateral development institution that promotes private investment and assists private enterprises in its developing member countries. Its capital resources are provided by its 127 member States—including 106 developing countries-which collectively determine its policies and activities.
