The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), continued to provide concessional assistance for financing agricultural projects in developing countries. It was established in 1977 to achieve food security through increased agricultural production, and improved nutrition and income for the poorest rural populations, including the landless, marginal farmers, pastoralists, fisher-folk, indigenous peoples and poor women.
