International drug control

During 1999, the United Nations, through the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) and the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP), renewed its commitment to strengthen international cooperation and increase efforts to counter the world drug problem, in accordance with the obligations of States under the United Nations drug control conventions, and on the basis of the general framework provided by the 1990 Global Programme of Action on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and the outcome of the General Assembly’s twentieth special session, held in 1998.
