The Yearbook of the United Nations details the many activities of the Organization and it’s organs, programmes and bodies, as they are carried out in all corners of the globe. It gives an account of their endeavours to create better and more peaceful conditions for all mankind and their efforts to deal with matters of pressing concern in a variety of areas. Each volume is fully indexed and reproduces all major General Assembly, Security Council and Economic and Social Council resolutions issued during the year.

International trade, finance and transport

In 2000, the revival in international economic activity and trade, which began in the second half of 1999, continued. Exports and imports of all groups of countries increased at significantly faster rates and became more balanced among countries. The improvements in growth were particularly marked in a number of developing countries and economies in transition. In contrast with the expansion in trade, capital flows to developing countries declined.
