World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

In 2005, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) continued to facilitateworldwide cooperation in the generation and exchange of meteorological and hydrological information and the application of meteorology to aviation, shipping, water problems, agriculture and other activities. During the fifty-seventh session of the WMO Executive Council (Geneva, 21 June–1 July), participants reviewed the activities of WMO and National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs). It also addressed several issues, including WMO management reform; WMO Information System; locust menace in North and West Africa; strengthening regional and subregional offices; and strengthening contributions by NMHSs to hydrometeorological risk assessment at the national level.
