Because it is commonplace to note that increasing numbers of persons seek to travel across international borders, it is sometimes forgotten that the vast majority of the world’s people seek to remain in their country of origin. Staying, that is, is the rule; moving is the exception. Indeed, it has been suggested that people have a “right to remain” in their home countries - a right that is put under pressure by human causes and forces of nature.
