1945

During the year, States parties to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) continued to develop national capacities to deal with the threat posed by the possible use of the life sciences as a weapon. The annual meetings of the BWC helped to identify common ground around the world, provided a key forum for expert exchange, fostered a community dedicated to preventing the hostile use of the life sciences and carried out work in many areas to ensure that biology is used solely for peaceful purposes.
