International co-operation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy

For many years, the development of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes has been debated inside and outside the United Nations. Two points of view continue to dominate those discussions: one focuses on the link between the transfer of nuclear technology and the spread of nuclear weapons, and the other on the benefits that can result from the peaceful applications of nuclear energy.
