United Nations disarmament studies programme

Since the early 1960s the General Assembly has requested in numerous resolutions that the Secretary-General carry out specific disarmament studies with the assistance of groups of experts and consultants which he is authorized to appoint. The series of United Nations disarmament study reports thus completed has covered a wide range of questions on, or closely related to, the disarmament agenda and, in several cases, new studies have been authorized to bring up to date earlier United Nations reports on a particular subject.
