How to use the data

Good criminal justice statistics are essential for understanding and trying to shape social development. The annex to the present document specifies the suggested variables associated with the dimensions of the statistical framework described in part II. These variables provide the basic data points that the prison system should strive to collect if they are to produce and use relevant statistics that offer the basis for improved decision-making and greater transparency.
