Issue no. 35 of the National Accounts Studies of the Arab Region includes available data and ESCWA estimates of GDP at both current and constant prices, in addition to the consolidated national accounts for each ESCWA member country during the period 2011-2015, and the estimated real GDP growth for 2016. Data was compiled from national statistical sources and by using questionnaires prepared by ESCWA. This publication is intended for economists, social researchers and planners.

Enhancing human development and wellbeing requires people accessing the opportunities and means to live healthy, happy and satisfactory lives. The highly innovative 4th National Human Development Report for Timor-Leste puts the well-being of young people, three quarters of the country’s population, at the center of the development agenda. Demographic Yearbook 2015 is the sixty-sixth in a series published since 1948. Through the cooperation with the National Statistical Offices, official demographic statistics are compiled in the Yearbook, as available, for more than 230 countries and areas of the world up to the reference year 2015. This edition of the Yearbook contains chapters on the population size and distribution, the population of capital cities, fertility, foetal mortality, infant and maternal mortality, general mortality, nuptiality and divorce. This edition of the yearbook contains as well a table of Whipple’s indices for the past three rounds of Population Censuses, namely Censuses of 1990, 2000 and 2010 rounds.

This guide collects and summarizes good practices on the successful mediation of resource conflicts. It draws on the field experiences of mediators and mediation experts, specifically those with natural resource expertise. It also features lessons learned from UNEP’s work on environmental diplomacy in different conflict-affected countries, with a particular focus on how to use impartial technical knowledge to equalize stakeholder information in a mediation process.

Agriculture is both an important and sensitive sector in all countries. Negotiations on liberalizing trade in agriculture concern numerous issues and therefore are complex and particularly challenging for most developing countries and least developed countries. The purpose of this publication is to assist trade policy makers and trade negotiators in considering their decisions regarding agriculture in pursuing national development objectives. It could also be useful for other stakeholders involved or interested in agricultural negotiations and policies, including the private sector, researchers and non-governmental organizations. The publication seeks to do so by providing a balanced, objective and sound analysis of the technical and policy issues about the rules and negotiations on trade in agriculture and explore possible ways to address the above-mentioned challenge.

The Action Against Desertification project supports Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Gambia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Fiji and Haiti in the sustainable management and restoration of degraded land. The project promotes community-based restoration approaches along value chains - from the seed to the market - for several economically significant non-timber forest products. Some of these products are particularly important because they can be produced across most of the core area of the Great Green Wall for the Sahara and the Sahel initiative. This publication presents an overview of these key products - gum arabic, honey, fodder, Balanites oil, and restoration seeds and seedlings - and how the project is promoting them along entire value chains, from land restoration using targeted species, to harvesting, processing and marketing.

Cette publication examine aussi comment la région de la mer Caspienne peut contribuer à la diversification de l’approvisionnement énergétique et passe également en revue les couloirs de transport de l’énergie, les nouvelles infrastructures, les systèmes de transmissions et les investissements nécessaires pour les réaliser.

This National Trade Facilitation Roadmap for Exports Enhancement and Diversification provides the framework for a national trade facilitation reform programme over a five-year period (2019-2024) and includes a strategic vision supported by goals and activities, and performance indicators to measure progress against set targets. It is the result of a consultative effort of the National Coordination Committee on Trade Facilitation (CCTF), under the UNECE guidance, and in collaboration with key international partners including the ITC and UNCTAD. This document has been developed in the context of the project on “Removing regulatory and procedural barriers to trade in the Republic of Tajikistan” at the request of the Government.
