Responsible Consumption and Production
The Forest Products Annual Market Review 2017-2018 provides a comprehensive analysis of markets in the UNECE region and reports on the main market influences outside the UNECE region. It covers the range of products from the forest to the end-user: from roundwood and primary processed products to value-added and housing. Statistics-based chapters analyse the markets for wood raw materials, sawn softwood, sawn hardwood, wood-based panels, paper, paperboard and woodpulp. Other chapters analyse policies, trade barriers affecting forest products, and markets for wood energy. Underlying the analysis is a comprehensive collection of data. The Review highlights the role of sustainable forest products in international markets. Policies concerning forests and forest products are discussed, as well as the main drivers and trends. The Review also analyses the effects of the current economic situation on forest products markets.
The State of Food and Agriculture 2016
Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security
The Paris Agreement, adopted in December 2015, represents a new beginning in the global effort to stabilize the climate before it is too late. It recognizes the importance of food security in the international response to climate change, as reflected by many countries focusing prominently on the agriculture sector in their planned contributions to adaptation and mitigation. To help put those plans into action, this report identifies strategies, financing opportunities, and data and information needs. It also describes transformative policies and institutions that can overcome barriers to implementation.
Recommendation No. 43 - Pratiques d’achat durables

Agriculture Trade and Poverty - Can Trade Work for the Poor?
The report examines the many ways in which trade liberalization and agricultural trade affect the poor and food-insecure. Trade can be a catalyst for change, promoting conditions that enable the poor to raise their incomes and live longer, healthier and more productive lives, but these positive results are not guaranteed. The poor are particularly vulnerable in any reform process, especially in the short run as productive sectors and labour markets adjust. Complementary policy measures are needed to enable the poor to take advantage of the opportunities offered by trade, and safety nets are required to protect the most vulnerable from trade-related shocks.
The Financial System We Need
Aligning the Financial System with Sustainable Development
The Financial System We Need argues that there is now a historic opportunity to shape a financial system that can more effectively finance the development of an inclusive, green economy. This opportunity is based on a growing trend in policy innovation from central banks, financial regulators and standard setters, who are incorporating sustainability factors into the rules that govern the financial system. The report draws together practical examples of policy changes in banking, capital markets, insurance and institutional investment, drawing on detailed work in countries such as Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, India, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and the USA. It offers a Framework for Action that shows how a systematic approach can now be taken at both the national and international levels. - See more at: http://unepinquiry.org/publication/inquiry-global-report-the-financial-system-we-need/#sthash.H7k5isab.dpuf
Coordinated Operations of Flexible Coal and Renewable Energy Power Plants
Challenges and Opportunities
The electricity sector is rapidly changing. Faced with the challenge of climate change, coal consumption is declining. Policy designs focus on raising the penetration of renewable energy. However, there are still drawbacks that prevent renewable energy from being adopted at industrial scale. It is therefore increasingly important for the policy makers to identify ways to leverage the benefits of renewable energy and at the same time preserve the availability, affordability and reliability of electricity. Several studies have explored the possibility of coordinating fossil fuel fired power plants with renewable energy. This report presents several options for the northern hemisphere.
