Through inter-institutional consultations, Guatemala has taken a series of steps to identify administrative and legislative needs, which facilitated in drafting a bill that provides drastic sanctions for all acts of terrorism. Included is a set of norms for preventing terrorist acts and maintaining strict security controls through the creation of a National Counter-Terrorism Security Council, to prevent and control terrorism. Moreover, an Inter-institutional Committee can be convened whenever there is a need for coordination to comply with international commitments.
