Other issues

This year, the chapter introduces two new subjects: terrorism and Disarmament, and Human Rights Issues Related to Disarmament. It also covers other important issues, such as, outer space; information security; depleted uranium; the relationship between disarmament and development; the role of science and technology in the context of international security and disarmament; and observance of environmental norms in the drafting and implementation of treaties. As they do not lend themselves to placement in any of the other topic chapters of this volume, nor do they share a common theme among themselves, the issues in this chapter appear under the title “Other issues”.
