Conclusion: Thoughts on a decade as Secretary-General of the United Nations

This volume, like all the work of the United Nations, is a team product. It has been prepared by colleagues at all levels across the United Nations, and offers a full and frank portrait of our efforts over the past decade to uphold the values and advance the objectives of the UN Charter. We have sought to reflect on the challenges, explain our approaches, catalogue both gains and setbacks and, crucially, suggest avenues for future action. My hope is that this assessment will be of use to all 193 Member States, all UN partners and to my successor and the new team that assumes leadership of the unique and indispensable Organization I have been privileged to lead.
