In 2005, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) continued to promote cooperation in education, science, culture and communication among its member States. The biennial General Conference, at its thirty-third session (Paris, 3-21 October), adopted the organization’s 2006-2007 programme budget. The 58-member Executive Board held its one hundred and seventy-first (12-28 April), one hundred and seventy-second (13-29 September) and one hundred and seventythird (24 October) sessions, all in Paris.
