The Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council began its deliberations in January 1994. The mandate of the Working Group was extended by the General Assembly at its forty-eighth through fifty-fourth sessions. Reports on the progress of its work were submitted by the Working Group to the General Assembly at its forty-eighth through fifty-fourth sessions.
