Population and urbanization

For the purposes of this report, the Central African sub-region includes nine countries: Angola, Cameroon, the Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, Congo (Republic of), Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and São Tomé e Príncipe. The sub-region’s combined 2011 population estimate of 130 million comprised 76.1 million rural and 53.9 million urban dwellers (Figure 5.1).
