International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank)

Established in 1945, the International Barik for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) continued in 1995 to help promote economic and social progress in developing nations by raising productivity. Together with its affiliate, the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank provided loans to the developing world as well as assistance in designing and implementing policies to expand markets and strengthen economies of developing countries. The use of its guarantee powers, which became a standard operational tool of the World Bank during fiscal 1995, was part of the Bank’s role in managing the rapid changes in the new global economy across a continuum of different country needs with a flexible array of interventions.
