The Constitution providing for the establishment of a World Health Organization (WHO) was adopted on 22 July 1946 by the International Health Conference, called for the purpose by the Economic and Social Council. There were sixtyfour States, the Allied Control Authorities for Germany, Japan and Korea, respectively, and ten international organizations represented at the Conference, which met in New York from 19 June to 22 July 1946.
