Economic and social policies as well as institutional and systemic modifications are integral components of the set of solutions for sustaining peace and for achieving sustainable development in the region’s countries with special needs. Various development-related policies serve the purpose of preventing conflict and sustaining peace; however, this chapter focuses on those policies that specifically address the higher vulnerability level of countries with special needs.
