Introduction

That finance is intimately connected with investment is unquestionable. But what the linkages between finance and investment consist of and how they operate remain subjects of debate between different schools of thought. This part of the present report seeks to add to the understanding of the dynamics of financing, savings and growth, and to identify how financing might best be reformed to the benefit of the world economy as a whole and the developing countries in particular.
