Gender Alert: Crisis Upon Crisis - Impact of the Recent Escalation on Women and Girls in Yemen
Since late 2024, escalating conflict has deepened Yemen’s already critical humanitarian crisis. Between February and April 2025, heavy bombardments have caused mass civilian casualties, widespread displacement, and the destruction of critical infrastructure. Attacks on key lifelines—Al Hudayda port and Sana’a airport in May—severed supply routes, halting the delivery of food, fuel, medicine, and humanitarian aid. This disruption has crippled humanitarian operations, shutting down health facilities, restricting food distribution, and impeding emergency services—especially in frontline areas. An estimated 9.6 million women and girls are in need of aid, facing mounting barriers to essential services, including maternal health, clean water, and psychosocial support. The destruction of health facilities and a water reservoir has cut off care for over 400 pregnant and lactating women and 9,600 children. Between January and May 2025, over 6,000 people were newly displaced —26% of whom are in female headed households, adding to the 2.3 million women already living in displacement across Yemen. Displaced women face risks from income loss to protection threats. Despite the complexity of the conflict, the fragile cessation of hostilities between the U.S. and the Houthis in Sanaa offers a narrow but critical window for de-escalation and humanitarian response. This moment must be used to scale up gender-responsive aid and restore essential services to displaced and conflict-affected populations.

Практическое руководство для государственных судебных механизмов
Over the course of six years, and in response to successive mandates from the Human Rights Council, OHCHR’s Accountability and Remedy Project developed guidance on how to enhance the effectiveness of the three categories of remedial mechanisms covered in the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. For each category of mechanism, OHCHR spent two years consulting with those who use, design, and administer the mechanism, among others, to identify good-practice lessons, resulting in a set of reports presented to the Human Rights Council. This publication compiles the guidance and explanatory notes from those reports focusing on judicial mechanisms

Children With Disabilities in Asia and the Pacific
A Statistical Overview of Their Well-being
Nearly 108 million children with disabilities live in Asia and the Pacific—almost half of the global total—yet too many are left behind. This report reveals deep inequalities in access to education, healthcare, nutrition, and protection for children with disabilities across the region. The report presents the first comprehensive regional overview of these disparities. It shows that children with disabilities are significantly less likely to attend school, receive adequate nutrition, or be protected from violence. Many face exclusion from the earliest years of life. The reasons vary: They include stigma, lack of data, accessible services, information, communication and physical barriers. But the consequences are sadly consistent. When marginalized from society, the chances for children with disabilities to survive and thrive are diminished, along with their prospects for a bright future. The report draws on data from 14 countries that used the UNICEF/Washington Group Child Functioning Module - a tool that focuses on children’s functional difficulties in daily life, rather than relying solely on medical diagnoses. This approach helps overcome stigma and underreporting, offering a more accurate picture of the proportion of children with disabilities and helps identify disparities in development outcomes and access to rights for children with disabilities and their peers. This report aims to promote the use of data to make children with disabilities in the region more visible, enabling a fuller understanding of their life experiences. It offers evidence that it is crucial for decision-making to ensure every child has an equal chance in life.
