World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)

During 1978, six States deposited instruments of ratification of or accession to the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (wipo). Of these, the membership of three States became effective in 1978: the Central African Empire (23 August), Sri Lanka (20 September) and Jamaica (25 December), bringing the number of States party to the WIPO Convention to 81. Membership of three further States was to become effective as follows: Mongolia (28 February 1979), the Republic of Korea (1 March 1979) and Yemen (29 March 1979), increasing the number of States parties to 84.
