Factors affecting demand for, and consumption of, livestock products and oilcakes

image of Factors affecting demand for, and consumption of, livestock products and oilcakes

Demand for oilcakes is directly related to demand for livestock products (meat, dairy, fish, and eggs). Consumption of oilcakes and meals depends primarily on the number, breed, sex, age, health and productive status of animals to feed. Animal inventories, the proximity of supplies of various ingredients, palatability and the composition of nutrients, as well as possibilities for substitution between competitively priced ingredients (oilcakes in particular), determine aggregate consumption.
