Foreword

This is the third in the series of annual reports prepared by the UNCTAD secretariat on issues in the field of trade and development. The present report, in addition to analysing the world economic situation and examining the short-term world economic outlook, focuses on the topic of economic cooperation among developing countries, with particular reference to trade and and finance. It is the intention of the UNCTAD secretariat to expand the analysis in the future in order to cover other aspects of such co-operation.
