World review

FAO’s preliminary estimates indicate that world food and agricultural production (crops and livestock) rose by almost 3% in 1978. It confirmed by later data, the increases at the world level would be somewhat above the trend for the 1970s so far. World cereal production rose by about 5% to a new record level, and carryover stock of these basic commodities have increased still further.
