The National Coordination Council for Sustainable Development (NCCSD) was established in 2016 by Presidential Decree, with the aim of coordinating the fulfilment of the country’s commitments under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Its main goal is to identify national priorities and indicators relevant to the SDGs and to state programmes covering socioeconomic areas, and to ensure that strategies are aligned with SDGs. The Council is chaired by a Deputy Prime Minister, with the Minister of Economy as Deputy Chair and the Ministry of Economy providing the secretariat. The Council meets once or twice each year, on receipt of reports from subsidiary working groups. To date, the Council has met 12 times, approved three VNRs and submitted them to the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in 2017, 2019 and 2021. The Council’s meeting reports are submitted directly to the President and are reportedly publicly available on a website.
