Abstract

This publication provides an overview of children’s diverse roles in helping to prevent, address, and report violence, as well as of effective actions taken, including peer support. It offers insight into how children contribute to and are an active part of solutions to building back better and accelerating fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Further demonstrating children’s capacity to be agents of positive change, the publication showcases their collaboration with adults and decision makers. It also addresses the many challenges organizations and children have faced in times of COVID-19, including those posed by digital channels when taking participation forward, reaching those hardest to reach, and facilitating regular communication with children whose lives have been disrupted. Finally, based on findings from the varied experiences analyzed, this report provides key recommendations to support children’s participation and civic engagement.
