Abstract

This policy brief explores the state of economic inclusion of persons with disabilities in the Arab region, from the perspectives of persons with disabilities themselves and of employers. It highlights the main challenges that continue to hinder the equal participation of persons with disabilities in the labour market and in entrepreneurship, despite the existence of legislation and laws that protect their rights and promote their inclusion. The brief draws on a recent ESCWA study based on a survey targeting persons with disabilities and private sector employers. It sheds light on available opportunities and offers practical recommendations to support the economic and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.
