Economically developed private enterprise economies

This chapter deals with the broad aspects of national economic changes in 1950 and 1951 in the United States, Canada, Australia and the following economically developed private enterprise economies of western Europe: Belgium, Denmark, France, western Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The first two sections discuss major changes in 1950 and 1951, respectively, in national production and national expenditure, with particular emphasis on factors affecting the share of consumption in gross national product. The third section considers related developments in prices, wages and profits.
