This independent Assessment of Development Results in Malawi, conducted by the Evaluation Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is part of a series of country-level evaluations. The evaluation examined the UNDP contribution to Malawi’s development from 2002 to 2011 and provides forward-looking recommendations that are useful for the formulation of the new UNDP country programme in Malawi.

The UNDP Evaluation Office offers its sincere gratitude to the team of independent national evaluators who carried out this Assessment of Development Results. Co-leaders Graham Chipande and Ephraim Chirwa together led the design and conduct of the evaluation. They were responsible for addressing the strategic positioning of UNDP in Malawi and preparing the evaluation report. Graham Chipande also had individual responsibility for addressing the themes on public sector reform and services delivery. Ephraim Chirwa addressed the themes on poverty, growth and the MDGs.
