The growth rate of the Paraguayan economy revived to 4% during 1993, driven by robust agricultural production under more favourable climate conditions. The increase in primary supply caused exports to expand, while the value of imports remained the same; consequently, the current balance of payments deficit was reduced. This deficit was amply covered by the flow of external resources, which made it possible to replace a portion of the international reserves lost in the previous year.
